NURPUR BEDI: The inauguration of Khalsa Heritage Complex has been put off by another two to three weeks, depending upon the availability of Prime minister, who has given his consent to inaugurate the complex.
Punjab chief minister
Parkash Singh Badal told mediapersons here on Saturday that PMO staff had been asked to finalise a date between November 15 and 25 for the PM's visit for the inauguration.
Earlier, the inauguration was slated for November 6.
Badal also slammed PPCC president
Amarinder Singh over his recent comment that KHC had already been inaugurated by him during his tenure as chief minister. "Ask him, how could he inaugurate an incomplete project," Badal asked.
Badal said he had requested the Prime Minister to inaugurate the world class KHC only when fully complete, which was left midway during the previous Congress regime. The CM added that he had also requested PM
Manmohan Singh to inaugurate the Mohali International Airport during his visit.
Commenting on the rationale behind the sangat darshan programme in view of the notice issued to the state government by Punjab and Haryana High Court, Badal said sangat darshan was "a platform to redress the grievances of common man on the spot in consultation with local administration. I am the elected chief minister having the mandate of people of Punjab and therefore, it was obligatory on my part to go at their doorsteps to solve their day-to-day problems and ensure their quality life".
Stating that disbursing development grants was his right as CM, he said these grants were given out of a dedicated rural development fund. Commenting on the issue of Blacklisted Sikhs, Badal said he had personally taken up the matter several times with Prime Minister and Union home minister for a permanent solution. The state government could only pursue cases with the Centre, but the ultimate decision has to be taken at the level of GoI,he said.
Speaking on the problems faced by school teachers working in Kandi region here, the CM said the government had already made a separate cadre of teachers working in Kandi and border areas so as to benefit local teachers, besides checking the growing rate of dropouts among school children in the region.
